Rank is players over the last seven days. A big server showing offline while the rest are up is that server restarting or wiping, not Rust being down.

11,778 servers online. 91,986 players. State: Rust servers are up. Last read 2026, within six minutes.

That is this hour's tally of every public Rust server in our scan, taken against the average for the same hour over the past 14 days.

How the verdict is reached

We read the server list every five minutes and hold the count against the hour's normal range. Shares of normal: 85% or more, servers are up. 50 to 85%, thin — a Steam blip, a force wipe, or a partial regional outage. Under 50%, outage. Under 15% for two consecutive reads, we flag it as down. Counts move with the daily cycle, so an afternoon low can look healthy against a quiet morning.

The 48-hour chart

The chart above shows the same figure at five-minute resolution for two days. The flat stretches are the hours in your region. The steps are wipes. A sudden drop shared across many servers points to Steam, not one host. A drop confined to one tag or region points to that host or that network.

Are the big servers up?

We rank by current population, not capacity. If a leading server is missing from the count while the wider list is normal, that server is restarting, wiping or down. Its own page in our server list shows when it was last seen. Servers due a forced wipe today are listed on the wipe timer; read that before blaming the network, since restarts there are scheduled.

If your browser is empty

  1. Restart Steam, then Rust. The in-game list comes from Steam, and a stale login can return nothing.
  2. Check your filters — a region or tag set weeks ago can hide every server.
  3. Check Steam itself. When Steam's list is out, every game browser empties and our count dips too.
  4. On forced wipe day, update Rust first; servers return to the list one by one.
  5. Turn the VPN off. Strict firewalls and corporate networks can block the UDP traffic the browser uses.

When one server is missing and the rest are normal, that server is the issue. Its page records the last reading we hold. A quiet live player count page, with the same data at country level, is one click away.

Questions

3 answered
Are Rust servers down right now?

The verdict above is live: 11,778 servers and 91,986 players, read against the typical count for this hour. At 85% of normal or more, servers are up; below half is an outage. Every figure is from our own scan, refreshed every five minutes.

Why does my game show no servers when this page says they are up?

Then the fault sits between you and Steam, not with Rust. Restart Steam and Rust, clear your browser filters, and check whether Steam itself is down. On forced wipe day, update the game before retrying — servers rejoin the list one at a time as they restart.

How current is this reading?

Each reading comes from a full scan of the public server list and is timestamped at the top of the page. Under normal conditions it is under six minutes old; past twenty-five minutes we say so rather than guess. The 48-hour chart shows the same reading at five-minute intervals.
